Thomas A. Gessick, CPA, President

President/Managing Shareholder

Tom joined the firm in 1984 as a senior accountant and was promoted to Partner in 1987. He has directed the firm’s accounting and auditing practice since that time, and became managing shareholder in 1994. Tom oversees the operations of the firm, and supervises small business tax and consulting engagements, and audit engagements.

Education and Experience

Tom graduated from The University at Albany in 1976 with a BS degree in Public Accounting. He began his career at a CPA firm in Atlanta, GA., became a Certified Public Accountant in 1980, and also worked as Controller, then Treasurer at a Capital District mortgage banking company. Tom has been providing auditing, accounting, tax and management advisory services to not for profit organizations, small businesses (predominantly contractors, professionals, and consultants) and individuals since 1976.

Professional and Community Service

Tom is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, has served on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Chapter of the NYSSCPAs, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He has been a member of the Albany Rotary Club since 1985, has served as Treasurer and as an at-large Board member, and is past President of this prestigious club. He is a 1990 graduate of the Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. He has served on many not-for-profit boards for agencies serving the community, and is very active in community events in Altamont, NY where he resides.

Family and Leisure Activities

Tom and Molly have been married since 1977, and tremendously enjoy life at their residence in the Village of Altamont. They both enjoy their Victorian home, cooking (Molly cooks, Tom enjoys), music, their friends, and outdoor activities. Tom especially loves driving, exploring out of the way places, home renovation projects, and spending time at the Great Sacandaga Lake. Their three boys are each pursuing their passions in life.

David M. Mysliwiec, CPA, CFP®, PFS, CSEP, CGMA®, Tax Shareholder

David is the firm’s Tax Shareholder and Financial Specialist and currently supervises all tax and financial planning services. He has directed these departments since 1999.

Education and Experience

David graduated from Siena College in 1989 with a BBA degree in Accounting. In 1987 he graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an associates degree. His background includes 5 years as a tax analyst/reviewer for the largest fee-based financial services firm in the United States, where he assisted in providing advice to CEOs, entertainers and other high net-worth individuals. David has since accumulated over 20 years of public accounting experience. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Financial Planner, a Personal Financial Specialist, a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, and a Chartered Global Management Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Planning Association, National Association of Tax Professionals, and was listed as an expert tax practitioner in The Directory of Tax Professionals 2003, and named to the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals for appearance in 2004-2005 edition.

Professional and Community Service

David is active in many organizations including the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Sons of the American Legion, the Coalition of Fathers and Families NY, Inc., and the American Coalition for Fathers and Children. He is the current Treasurer of the statewide Coalition of Fathers and Families NY, Inc., and is the past Treasurer and past Board Member of the Financial Planning Association of Northeastern New York, the Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League, the Side-by-Side Theater Company, Inc., the Capital District Chapter of the Fathers' Rights Association of New York State, Inc. (FRANYS), and is also past Treasurer of the statewide FRANYS Board.

Family and Leisure Activities

David lives in the City of Mechanicville NY. He is active in supporting the arts, including Proctor’s Theater, Schenectady Civic Players and various other local and regional groups. He is also active in raising funds and awareness for Caring Together, Inc., a local non-profit that provides support, awareness and research dollars in finding a cure for Ovarian Cancer. David enjoys playing pool, throwing darts, basketball, baseball, football, landscaping and various home improvement projects. His three sons are now out making their own marks in the world, and he is very proud of each of them.

Glenn R. Winter, CPA, Audit Shareholder

Education and Experience

Glenn graduated in 1993 from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science degree. Glenn formerly held an accounting manager position with a statewide not-for-profit association and as a staff accountant with another CPA before joining the firm in June 2001.

Professional and Community Service

Glenn is active in his son’s Boy Scout troop and Taekwondo dojang. He is the current Treasurer of Council Services Plus, which provides insurance solutions for non-profits throughout New York State.

Family and Leisure Activities

Glenn lives with his family in Cobleskill NY. In his free time, he enjoys camping, astronomy, home improvements, and watching great movies.

Donetta Morse, CPA, Manager

Education and Experience

Donetta is a cum laude accounting graduate of Husson University in Bangor, ME. She obtained her CPA license while working a decade at one of Albany's largest CPA firms. Former positions include tax manager, fiscal manager, and audit manager.

Professional and Community Service

She continues to volunteer at her son's school when the opportunity arises, she has taught Junior Achievement, read one-on-one with school children, assisted in the school library, helped to set up an advanced library for teachers, and as ski club chaperone and homeroom mom. Previously she volunteered at church as head of the parent and tot program.

Current member of AICPA and NYS Society of CPAs. Past treasurer of BPW (Business of Professional Women) and finance committee member for NY Special Olympics.

Family and Leisure Activities

Donetta lives with her husband Jaret and son Riley, and enjoys boating on Lake George, skiing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Amanda M. Russell, CPA, Manager

Education and Experience

Amanda graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in taxation, both from the University at Albany. She began her career with a mid-sized public accounting firm, where she worked in the Tax Department for over twelve years. She has also worked at a large financial services firm preparing complex tax returns for high-net-worth individuals. Amanda has been assisting small business owners with their tax and accounting needs since 2005. She received her CPA license from New York State in 2009.

Professional and Community Service

Early in her career, Amanda served as co-chair of the NextGen committee for the Northeast Chapter of the NYSSCPA. The committee provides networking and community service opportunities for young professionals in the Capital Region. She was also chosen as a participant in the NYSSCPA Young Leadership Circle. Amanda is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Skills for Success program, where she was a recipient of the Breakthrough Award in 2018. Whenever possible, she enjoys volunteering her expertise to accounting students and her time to the Regional Food Bank.

Amanda lives in Colonie NY with her husband James and their three children. Outside of the office, she can often be found enjoying music or watching documentaries.

Terri M. Elliott, Firm Manager

Education and Experience

Terri joined the firm in January 2015, bringing with her 30+ years experience in the Credit, Finance, and Accounting fields.

Professional and Community Service

Terri is a member of NAPW - National Association of Professional Women which she has been recognized for Outstanding Excellence and Dedication to Her Profession and the Achievement of Women.

Terri loves animals, especially dogs, she is involved in and passionate about animal rescue. Terri volunteers at several different animal shelters, events, and fundraisers and is currently training her own dog to be a Certified Therapy Dog.

Terri is a native of Scotia NY. In her spare time, Terri enjoys traveling, entertaining, cooking, gardening, going to the lake and ocean, boating and kayaking, hiking, music, and relaxing with family and friends.

Nikki L. Burns, Administrative Support

Education and Experience

Upon joining the firm in Sept 2015, Nikki has brought along 10 plus years in the administrative, business and accounting fields.

Nikki lives in Clifton Park NY with her two sons Terry and Liam, In her free time she enjoys spending as much time as she can with her boys, reading, cooking/baking and anything outdoors.

Harvey W. Gorddon, CPA, of Counsel

Education and Experience

Harvey graduated from Siena College in 1974 with a BBA degree in accounting. After working at the Internal Revenue Service as an intern Harvey became a Revenue Agent auditing small businesses. By the end of his six years with the Internal Revenue Service Harvey was an IRS instructor at the treasury’s training facility located at Hofstra University where he instructed new agents in tax law and audit procedures. He then spent several years working in the tax department of several local CPA firms. In 1982 he opened his own CPA practice and has been practicing since then specializing in tax planning and preparation for locally owned businesses. Harvey is proud that he is now working with second and third generations of the same family businesses.  He enjoys the roll of a trusted advisor helping these businesses remain financially strong and profitable. Often, it takes many years to implement a transfer of a family business working closely with multiple generations, family members and helping all of them with Estate, income tax and financial issues. Harvey is proud of the team that he has developed in his practice. Lori Hartig, Tracy Buelow and Melanie Ramsey have all worked with Harvey for several decades.

Professional and community service

Harvey is a past President and Treasurer of Maimonides Hebrew Day School.  He is an active member of Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob in Albany. Currently, he serves as the Treasurer and a board member of the Independent Benevolent Society. 

Family and leisure activities

Harvey and his wife Michelle currently reside in Colonie NY. They have seven grown children between the two of them. Harvey is blessed with five children and five grandchildren. His children live across the United States from Portland Oregon to Orlando Florida. Harvey and Michelle enjoy travel, from exploring the small towns and villages in the Adirondacks, the Berkshires and in the finger lakes wine country. Spending summer evenings picnicking at Tanglewood or exploring the Napa Valley, Yosemite National Park, and the Monterey Peninsula. Another favorite is Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida.  Harvey’s passion for golf, includes taking golf trips with high school buddies and clients.  He also enjoys the challenge of Home projects like gutting and replacing the bathrooms and spending six years developing and building an outdoor model train layout.

Lori J. Hartig, Tax Accounting Assistant

Education and Experience

Lori graduated Mildred Elley Business and Technical School in 1989 majoring in Business Administration and Accounting.  However, most of her experience in accounting as a Bookkeeper and Tax Assistant, was learned, and taught by, Harvey Gordon and his Associates over the years.  She began her career with Harvey W. Gordon, CPA in 1990, and happily remains with him to date.  Harvey and Lori have a very special bond with their life and work experiences over the last 30 years. She also has a great working relationship with Accountants and Staff here at TMByxbee Company.

Family and Leisure Activities

Lori loves living in the Adirondack Mountains with her husband, Jeff of 37 years, her dog Nico, aka “the brat”, and has a very close, endearing relationship with her stepdaughter Jessica who resides in Nevada.  Lori loves gardening, cooking, decorating, but most of all, she is all about animals.  She has rescued, saved, and catered to many species of domestic and wild animals.  Family and friends call her “the animal whisperer”, and she accepts that with great pride.

Tracy L. Buelow, Staff Accountant

Education and Experience

Tracy received her associate degree in 1996 in accounting.  While working full-time and taking care of her family she went back to school (nights and weekends) and in 2018 she received her bachelor’s degree in accounting. 

Tracy joined the firm in 2019.  Prior to joining the firm, she worked for Harvey W. Gordon CPA for over 10 years.  She brings a variety of work experience, she has 20 plus years of bookkeeping, payroll, and human resource experience.

In her free time, she enjoys spending as much time as possible with family and friends.
